I arrived in Hanoi on Friday morning at 11:00 am. After the dance through Immigrations, I grabbed a taxi and headed for my Hotel. The west lake Hotel and Spa is great. My room is a little small, but very comfortable. An included brunch (06:30 am to 01:00 pm) for $24 Cdn can’t be beaten. Brunch is western and Vietnamese and lots of fresh fruit. I had dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant with my Airport taxi Driver. There was 5 dishes. Beef and vegetables, Roasted chicken, the delicious Morning Glory greens, a salad of cucumber, tomatoe, and onions, and a wonderful chicken flavoured sticky rice. All of this was helped along with a couple of Tiger beers. Lunch the following day was a homemade meal of shrimp, beef rice, and greens. Cuong, his wife Ha and their kids are wonderful people. Needless to say, I’ve had multiple cups of coffee. Did I mention how I love Vietnamese coffee. I went for a walk last evening along Tay Ho (West Lake). The sights, sounds, and smells are invigouring. The bat population is great along the lake. It is something I miss at home. I’ve had a wonderful, relaxing day and it is great to be alive. That’s it for now. Later.
So glad to hear that you’ve rested up and are finally able to begin enjoying your trip. I suspect not a lot of the western food was on your plate!
