I finished my last shift at 08:00 am on Friday January 11, 2019. It has been a bit of a food celebration since then. Lunch with Sandy at the Culinary Institute Marche on Friday.

Wings Pizza and beer in Bernie’s Bike shop for dinner. Saturday lunch with Sandy at the Starlite Diner in Summerside. Dinner at The Old Triangle with Sandy, my sister Heather and her husband, Kim. Sunday Prime Rib dinner at Brenda and Bernie’s place. Monday lunch at Taste of India with Sandy, and friends Mike and Willow. Dinner tonight will be at Charles and Laura’s house. Tomorrow lunch will be at Lucy Maud’s at the Culinary Institute with Jens and Linda. I leave for Vietnam on Wednesday morning at 06:00 am. Wow so much food and partying. This is what happens when you combine retirement, an upcoming Birthday, and a three month trip to the Land of a Million Smiles, Vietnam.

Checklist:

Bag packed

3 month Visa for Vietnam

Passport in Order

Initial Hotel Booked

Bank cards / Credit Cards

Walking Gear

The rough plan is Charlottetown to Toronto to Hong Kong to Hanoi. Expected travel time is 25 hours and 50 minutes. I will spend ~2 weeks in Hanoi and then walk for 10 days (170 km) to Sầm Sơn, on the coast, in Thanh Hóa province. I will stay for a while in this area and then take a train to Da Nang. After spending time in Da Nang, I will walk to Huế (102 km) to check out the sights and sounds of that area. I will walk back south through Da Nang to Hội An (130 km) and check out this ancient city. Depending on time and mood, etc., I will take a train to Dalat and from there to Can Tho in the Mekong Delta. The thing is I will do what feels right for me at the time. Follow  me as I wind my way through this wonderful and diverse country.
